-Soloists and duo/trios do not need to pre-qualify regionally for Nationals.

-All competing dancers and their teachers must be registered for the entire workshop in the city where they are competing.

-Twenty competition numbers allowed per studio; solos through productions. Of the Twenty competition numbers, a maximum of 5 solo entries per school (limit 1 solo per dancer) are allowed unless authorized by Adrenaline Dance, Inc. Adrenaline reserves the right to waive maximum entries allowed per studio if competition time permits additional entries.

-No independent soloists allowed unless authorized by Adrenaline Dance, Inc.

-Names, ages, and date of birth of ALL the dancers must appear on entry form or it will not be accepted.

-All ages are as of January 1 of the competition year.

-Entries accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Timely postmarks do not guarantee acceptance of entries.

-The deadline for competition changes is 14 days prior to the start of convention. No changes will be accepted after that date.

-Any school is welcome to participate in more than one Adrenaline regional event. Groups may compete in more than one city; however, if a routine is regionally awarded BEST OF SHOW title, it may not be entered in another city.

-Competing dancers may enter in as many performance categories as desired as long as they never compete against themselves in a given performance category.

-Group routines entered in same performance category must have at least a 50% change in participants.

-If a teacher performs with a group, the group will be judged for adjudication only and is not eligible for the Top 5 or Best of Show.

-No professional dancers may compete; however, they can attend workshop classes.

-All dancers must be prepared to present proof of age should a question arise. Photocopies are acceptable.

-In larger cities, Adrenaline reserves the right to begin competition on the Friday night prior to the convention.


-Separate checks must be written for convention entry fees and competition registrations. Both checks must be submitted simultaneously.

-Any payment received after the 30-day cutoff prior to the event must be in the form of credit card, or cashier

-Competition category fees are as follows:

-Solo: $80 (Limit 5 solos per studio. Limit 1 solo per person)

-Duo/Trio: $47 per dancer.

-Small Group (4-9 dancers): $30 per dancer.

-Large Group (10-16 dancers): $30 per dancer.

-Line (17+ dancers): $30 per dancer.

-Production (25+ dancers): $30 per dancer.

-Extended Time (Small, Large, Line, and Production): $40 per dancer.

-All competition fees are per person per entry.

-All checks should be made payable to Adrenaline Dance, Inc. A return check charge of $30 will apply to all returned checks in addition to cancellation of registration.

-All entries are final and non-refundable. NO EXCEPTIONS.

-Entries can be accepted online and via fax with credit card payment at time of submittal. Deadline for payment is not affected by online submittal of registration. A 5% late fee will apply to the total competition fees amount if not postmarked 30 days prior to the convention.

-No checks drawn on banks outside of the U.S.A. are accepted.


-Age divisions are as follows:

-Mini division: Average age is 8 and under.

-Junior division: Average age is 9 to 12.

-Teen division: Average age is 13 to 15.

-Senior division: Average age is 16 to 18.

-Adult /Teacher division: Average age is 19 and over. If a teacher performs with the group, it is automatically to be entered in the Adult/Teacher division. The group will be judged for adjudication only and is not eligible for the Top 5 or Best of Show.

-To determine the average age of an entry, add together the ages of all the dancers in the routine and divide by the total number of dancers in the entry. All averages are to be rounded down to the nearest whole number.

-The average age of each entry may not drop more than one age division below the age of the oldest dancer in the entry regardless of the actual average age.


-Tap: Routine that consists of tap technique. Tap shoes only.

-Jazz: Routine that consists of primarily jazz technique.

-Lyrical: Routine that consists of a combination of jazz/modern/ballet techniques incorporating balance, control, and interpretation.

-Ballet: Routine that consists of ballet or pointe techniques. Must include classical steps and movements.

-Hip-Hop: Routine that consists of stylistic movement of the urban element.

-Contemporary: Routine that consists of a fusion between jazz, lyrical and modern techniques.

-Musical Theatre: Routine that consists of dramatic interpretation.

-Modern: Routine that consists of modern techniques

-Open: Routine that consists of any dance style or combination of dance style not listed above (acrobatic, clogging, modern, etc.).

Note: Entry numbers containing more than 3 gymnastic passes must be entered in the open category. Otherwise, 1 point per judge will be deducted and the number will be moved to the appropriate category.


-Scoring is done on an adjudicated point scale by 3 judges, each scoring up to a total of 100 points.

-Technique: 35 points

-Execution: 30 points

-Showmanship: 20 points

-Choreography and Musicality: 10 points

-Costume: 5 points

-All ties will be broken by first, Technique score, second, Execution score, and third, judges poll.

-Any choreography that is not considered age appropriate by the panel of judges will have up to 5 points deducted by each judge and possible disqualification.


-All entries will be adjudicated by 3 judges. All 3 judges will be supplying video critiques.

-All judges decisions are final.

-Ultimate platinum, platinum, high gold, gold, high silver, and silver awards will be presented based on the following combined scores:

-Ultimate Platinum: 291-300

-Platinum: 285-290

-High Gold: 279-284

-Gold: 273-278

-High Silver: 267-272

-Silver: less than 266 points

-If two or more numbers are in a performance category, a high point will be announced for that competition category in that age division.

-Judges written score sheets, video critiques, and submitted music may be picked up at the registration desk the morning following the competition. These items will be given to the designated teacher/director only. If teacher/director cannot pick up score sheets and audio critiques, please designate alternate person prior to the event.


  • -Awards given in Mini, Junior, Teen, Senior, and Adult/Teacher age divisions.

    -All ultimate platinum, platinum, high gold, gold, and high silver award winners are eligible to compete in the 2012 Adrenaline National Competition.

    -Top 5 overall high score winners will be awarded in each age division in the following competition categories: solo, duo/trio, small group, large group, line, and production.

    -Best of Show- the top overall high scoring groups (3 to 5 per city depending on event size) in each of the Mini, Junior, Teen and Senior age divisions will be invited to perform during the Faculty Awards Show and re-compete for Best of Show regional title and a $150 cash prize in each city, limit 1 group per studio, per age division.

    -All regional Best of Show finalists are invited to attend 2012 Adrenaline Nationals and enter the same routine, complimentary, to compete for National Best of Show title.

    Special Awards (Groups Only)

    -RUSH Award-

    • For each studio, the top group scores in each of the Mini, Junior, Teen and Senior age divisions will be added up for a total combined score. The studio with the highest combined score in each city will be awarded the RUSH award and entitled to a free cruise for two (inquire with Adrenaline Dance for time and dates). There must be a minimum of 120 competition numbers in the city for the award to be given.

    -Heart Stoppers Award -

    • Awarded to the overall highest scoring routine of ALL age divisions (mini, junior, teen, and senior) at each regional competition.

    -Choreography Awards-

    • recognition awards chosen in each city in the Mini, Junior, Teen, and Senior age divisions by the judges for best overall choreography.

    -Entertainment Award-

    • recognition awards chosen in each city in the Mini, Junior, Teen, and Senior age divisions by the judges for best overall entertainment.

    -Technique Award-

    • recognition awards chosen in each city in the Mini, Junior, Teen, and Senior age divisions by the judges for the best overall technique.


  • Time limits are as follows:

    -Solo: 2 minutes, 45 seconds

    -Duo/Trio: 2 minutes, 45 seconds

    -Small Group: 3 minutes

    -Large Group: 3 minutes

    -Line: 4 minutes

    -Production: 8 minutes

    -Extended Time: 1 additional minute added to group routines only.

  • -The extended time category ONLY applies to group routines. By checking the extended time box on your registration form you will get one additional minute for your group routine performance. The fee for this additional minute is $10 per dancer.

    -Any small group, large group, line, or production that exceeds the regular allotted time limit will be considered an extended routine and subject to an additional $10 fee per dancer.

    -Any number that is over the extended time limit will receive a 1 point deduction per judge and subject to an additional $10 fee per dancer.

    -Competing dancers should be ready 1 hour prior to scheduled competition time. If the competition is running ahead of schedule, dancers will be expected to perform.

    -Competing dancers must perform in their scheduled order unless special permission is given by Adrenaline Dance for costume changes.

    -Any routines not able to perform in the order that they were scheduled must make arrangements with the emcee PRIOR to the start of the competition or risk possible point deductions.


    -All music must be submitted between 7am and 12 noon on the Saturday of the competition. In cities where competition begins on Friday night, music must be submitted 1 hour before the competition begins. Absolutely no music accepted after this time.

    -Please provide one professional quality CD per number. Only 1 song is allowed per CD.

    -Each CD must be labeled with: title of entry, studio name, studio code and entry number.

    -NO MUSIC ON IPODS ACCEPTED.


    -The stage is approximately a 30'x40' Marley Floor.


    -General props are permitted but must be taken on and off the stage quickly. Be aware that there may be restrictions in certain cities regarding the size and weight of props. Please check with Adrenaline before submitting large prop entries. Have a clean up crew ready for any objects left on stage.

    -There will be a 2-minute set-up/tear down time limit before and after numbers with props. Any props that take longer to set up or tear down will automatically be considered an EXTENDED number and subject to an additional $10 fee per dancer. Any prop that needs a longer set-up time must notify Adrenaline Dance, Inc. before the start of the competition.

    -Adrenaline Dance, Inc. is not responsible for shipping, transportation, storage, damage, or theft of any props.

    -No dangerous props may be used during the competition.

    -No live animals are permitted as props.

    -Any excessive scenery and elaborate lighting may not be used.

    -Tap sounds on recordings of tap numbers will result in a 2 point deduction from each judge.


    -Flash and non-flash photography is NOT permitted at any time.

    -Professional action shots taken during the convention classes, competition, are available for purchase. Inquire upon convention registration for details.

    -Adrenaline has commissioned a professional video company to tape routines, no personal videotaping will be allowed.

    -No other video taping allowed at any time. Please let everyone know about this rule. Video Taping may result in disqualification of ENTIRE studio.

    -Through their participation in the convention and/or competition, all dancers give consent for and authorize the use of their image, photos, and/or video for Adrenaline publicity and advertisement purposes.


    -General admission to the competition is free.

    -Audience will be allowed to enter and exit between numbers only. Doors will be closed during performances.
